A collaboration between three men
To develop his vision, Bernard Gault called on the advice of Nicolas Reau, winemaker at Clos des Treilles. Bernard fell in love with the winemaker’s precise, deep wines, the fruit of creative, well-thought-out cellar work. “Nicolas is a great expert in winemaking. By infusing his philosophy into the Bernard estate, he’s the ideal person to give substance to my dream of making exceptional wines at the heart of this historic site”.
Originally destined for a career as a pianist, Nicolas turned out to be a maestro of natural wine, bringing all his know-how to the Bernard domaine, so as to let the grapes express their full identity. He recommends Bernard Pelé for the management of the estate. A hands-on man with a perfect grasp of quality ambitions and objectives, with whom he has already successfully collaborated. A second Bernard in this complementary trio, the estate’s name is an obvious choice
“What were the hillsides of Cravant like? What did the Route de Chinon à Montsoreau sound like, what was its color, the taste of its dust? What could be heard echoing along the Vienne, what calls, what songs, what clatter of oars? What paths did François Rabelais walk along?”

Our wines
At the heart of a philosophy that seeks to extract the grapes' full potential as naturally as possible, the harvest is carried out by hand in small crates. Gently sorted and destemmed in the cellar, the grapes are tasted and vinified on a parcel-by-parcel basis. Discover our cuvées Les Trois Piliers in red and white, Pallus and Ballet.
