Our Wines
Preserving the brilliance of the grapes and the pure identity of the terroirs at the heart of the Chinon appellation
AOC chinon wine Organic estate
While the vines are farmed organically, Bernard Pelé unveils a natural, input-free vinification process, under the guidance of Nicolas Reau. A philosophy in harmony with Bernard Gault’s dream, preserving the vibrant flavors of the fruit and the distinctive identity of the soils. Each of Domaine’s cuvées offers the quintessence of its terroir… great Loire wines, racy and sharpness.
Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc
In the sunshine of the natural terraces of Cravant-les-Côteaux, our white Chenin and Cabernet Franc wines rise from an exceptional terroir. All the estate’s plots are located on hillsides, on natural terraces offering ideal exposure. Right on the bedrock, the terroirs evolve from bottom to top, from sandy-silt soil to flinty silt, Senonian sand and tufa.

“You must know how to dose your work in the cellar to produce structured, silky wines. It’s at the foot of the vats that the winemaker senses the moment when the wine naturally tips over.”
-Nicolas Reau
An appellation at the heart of the Chinon appellation
At the crossroads between Saumur and Tours, the pretty town of Chinon stands on the banks of the River Vienne. Chinon is a wine made from Cabernet Franc for reds and Chenin for whites. Born on light soils of sand and gravel on the banks of the Vienne, Chinon wine is round on the palate, supple and pleasant. When it comes from firmer, denser soils like the limestone hillsides, it’s a full-bodied wine, revealing a more robust side, suitable for long ageing. Chinon wines are sought-after for their velvety texture, richness and balance.
